The word islamism is a creation of western scholars having lack of knowledge of the true nature of islam. For muslims there is only islam. And islam IS a political religion. So political islam is true islam. All forms of nonpolitical islam is in fact heretical islam. So when talking about individual muslims then you can use the word islamists when meaning true muslims, and muslims when meaning secular or nonpolitical believers. In the discussion there's often made a confusing mixing of the religion islam and the believers of islam.
