I disagree, Mr. Morcos

Reader comment on item: Islam vs. Islamism (article)
in response to reader comment: It is just a Double Paradox

Here's why.

In your comment, you use 4 words: Nazi, Islam, Naziism, Islamism. The latter two are roughly analogous. The flaw in your thesis is the first two words are not.

The word 'Islam' is strictly a noun. The word 'Nazi' can be either a noun or a verb. In your thesis, you used the word 'Nazi' as a noun which is the only way it can be compared. Therein lies the obvious flaw.

The word 'Islam' represents a religion. The word 'Nazi' represents an individual person. Thus, they are neither equal or analagous. When you try to explain your thesis using the word 'Muslim', it falls apart. That's the bad news.

Here's the good news. You might be onto something. Maybe we shouldn't call it "Islamism" at all. Maybe a better word that forms a successful thesis is "Muslimism". Try your thesis using the words 'Muslim' and 'Muslimism' instead of 'Islam' and 'Islamism'. Maybe that will work better for all of us.

I just thought I'd throw my two cents in there. Maybe my idea is good; maybe not.
