Thank you for your comments on my piece, in part influenced by your own strong remarks, which I agree with even as I hope standing up in time to the ideology may render all out war unnecessary.

Your remarks about Germany and Japan remind me of thoughts I had while traveling in those countries within the last decade. For I remember thinking it would be good for someone to take a few Islam-infused leaders by the nape of the neck to the center of today's Berlin (or Frankfurt, never behind the Iron Curtain), and Tokyo, and say, "this is what it looks like after a totalitarian ideology has been crushed, and the people and leaders formerly in thrall to that ideology admit their defeat, and go on to live in peace with themselves and their neighbors, working to achieve prosperity and leisure in freedom. It's hard to imagine how that can possibly happen in the lands of islam without a similar ideological defeat, by one means or another.
