I am non-plussed at Daniel's position on Islamism vs Islam.

Reader comment on item: Islam vs. Islamism (article)

I am surprised at Daniel's take on Islamism being recent as he makes note of Muslims being used to being on a winning team between 600 and 1200.
This was because Islam grew through Jihad as promulgated by it's founder after he found it worked with the attendant rapes, murders, robberies and dhimmitude of the enslaved communities.

That was the Islam that Muslims found a winning formula and "gave them a good self image".

History doesn't support Islamism being a modern idea at all.

Daniel has studied the Koran, The Sira and some of the Hadiths, being a native speaker and reader he will know the truth of the above, so I am non-plussed as to his position as stated here.
