true political islam = westerm liberal democracy (3/4 rashodoun kalipha (somewhat) elected)

Reader comment on item: Islam vs. Islamism (article)

Submitted by hussain (United States), Jan 10, 2014 at 15:45

the system of government islam and the prophet left behind was of democracy

he said "choose the best amongst you to lead you" which is an obvious reference to elections.

from the rashidoun (rightly guided) kalipha 3/4 of them were elected and 3/4 left within the completion of their term with the best example being ibn khattab who left power with fresh elections at the end of his 10 year term.

the political system islamists believe in is anti islam where they take guidelines from islam and implement them into harsh laws rather than having elected leaders put into place suitable laws and lead the people who voted for them. this makes them unislamic and there lies the difference between islamist and islamic
