A Workable Strategy?Reader comment on item: Salvaging the Iraq War Submitted by LDC (United States), Jul 25, 2007 at 08:18 I remember when Daniel Pipes first suggested the go-to-the-desert strategy. I didn't buy it then, and don't buy it now. I was a part of such a strategy in S. Vietnam in 1970-71 in the Mekong Delta. It was, essentially, was American forces were doing in IV Corps after all convenetional ground combat units vacated. It was useless. Nice in theory. In practice, useless.
