Divide Iraq along traditional ethnic and religious lines! US and allies should referee process.

Reader comment on item: Salvaging the Iraq War

I strongly agree with Mr. Pipes that our troops should not be treated as target practice for urban 'terrorists,' many of whom know more about their country than we do! Bush '43's policies foment the hatreds and distrust of Christians and ESPECIALLY! America's moronic foreign policy.

In early 1991, I too wrote letters to Bush, Sr., Swartzkof, and other officials that the Christian-Islamic coalition that freed Kuwait did have a mandate to go all the way to Baghdad, remove Saddamn AND partition Iraq along traditional ethnic and religious lines as should have been done by the Sykes-Picot Team in 1916. I warned that if this were not done, we would have 'blowback' and have another 'Gulf War' to finish what was not done in 1991. Only Swartzkof responded---Swartzkof did decline my encouragement to run for US President against the traitorous George Bush in 1992.

Why did we have a mandate to remove Saddam in 1991. Saddam gave it to us when he had his military disgorge millions of barrels of Kuwaitii crude into the Persian Gulf and ignite it. Saddam gave the coalition a mandate when he purposely had his military blow over 400 Kuwaitii oil wells.

So, why didn't we go to Baghdad in 1991? Why prolong the suffering of the Iraqii people? Why send US troops to finally invade Iraq in 2003 when the Turks, Iranians, Syrians, Kuwaitiis, would have done it for us---FOR FREE!---if we, the US of A, had: 1. Given sanction for a partitioning, 2. Provided air cover and support 3. and some economic support.

According to Sir Winston Churchill: "One of the members of the Sykes-Picot team that divided up the old Ottoman Empire in 1916 said this: 'The borders we've given this new nation (of Iraq)s guarantees mischief for the next hundred years and abundant opportunity for military intervention, glory and advancement. '"

Why is the idealistic country of the US following the cynical foreign policies of the Brits and French that turn our 'Brightest and Best' into hamburger or walking or crawling wounded? Why isn't the US leadership promoting total US energy independence?

I am very, very disgusted with Bush '41 and Bush '43.
