Strongly Disagree on Iraqi Reluctance to Jointly See the War Through to Victory

Sir, I read the daily DoD press releases, have many military connections, and find many other military families who are much more strongly optimistic about the Iraqi willingness to see it through. A continual stream of good news from the front in recent days apparently is not sufficient to convince you that your early pessimism (2003) will perhaps prove unfounded.

Once again, I will ask, please report the news, analyze the news, yes, but cease from depressing the citizens and the troops when you may have doubts as to the advisability of the direction we have taken. Please distinguish yourself by your self restraint in a field besotted with ever-more arrogant braggarts claiming to know more than our generals and our Commander in Chief.

I hope that "our generals and our Commander in Chief" are correct but I do not automatically defer to them. In part, that's because I see their errors in other theaters - the Arab-Israeli conflict, Saudi Arabia, and the war on terror, to name just a few.
