Staying PutReader comment on item: Salvaging the Iraq War Submitted by Rebecca Moulds (Egypt), Jul 24, 2007 at 13:46 After reading Mr. Pipes concise and excellent article, I have to agree with him on most points. Yes, we shouldn't just "pull out" of Iraq, it would be a disaster. The entire country would fall like dominoes if that happened. I know an Egyptian who used to work for the Americans near the Green Zone, but it has become too dangerous for him to stay there any longer, therefore he has returned to work in Eygpt for a mere pittance compared to what he was earning in Iraq. Just that small and perhaps insignificant example should tell the world that things are not going well there. I do believe, however, that there are many, including Americans, who truly do care about the Iraqi people and would love to see peace in that country. But where do we start? True, it's easy to say "I care" when one is living in a free society and really hasn't seen the deprivations of war. I think changing the geographical situation may be the compromising solution after all, and we may actually see something good finally happening in Iraq, which has become The Great American Nightmare.
