The Battle of Iraq and the Clash of Civilizations - CorrectReader comment on item: Salvaging the Iraq War Submitted by J Sharpe (Canada), Jul 29, 2007 at 21:15 Mr. Gardner your analysis is absolutely correct. Unfortunately, we in the West have lost our moorings. We have embraced moral relativisim. We have become pluralistic weaklings. As a result we have no overarching vision and strength with which to approach the enemy. The enemy has found our achilles heel -- it's our thinking. They understand the way we think far better than we known how they think. Futhermore, history has shown that we in the West do not have the will (or at times the ability) to fight in a decisive and unified manner until faced with dire consequences. We will "push the button" only when we are faced with absolutely no other option. We are nowhere near that stage. We continue to enjoy our standard of living, our DVDs, cars, homes, etc. and sleep believing all will be well in the morning.
