Criminal IncompetenceReader comment on item: Salvaging the Iraq War Submitted by Jean de la Vallette (United States), Aug 29, 2007 at 13:36 The Bush/Cheney Administration's handling of the entire Iraq war has been criminally incompetent. Rumsfeld, Tenet, Franks and especially Bremer are also responsible for this disaster due to their individual ineptness and collective idiocy. American blood, treasure and national reputation have been recklessly squandered, and no one has yet been held accountable. It makes one yearn for the days of Stalinist show trials. We should initiate an immediate withdrawal from Iraq, and let it devolve into an orgy of Shia on Sunni violence. Perhaps if the region again undergoes the debilitating consequences of religious conflict - as Europe once did with the Thirty Years War - leaders there might rethink the use of violent Jihad as an acceptable tool, even if they can't or won't officially renounce it as a tenet of Islam.
