Reader comment on item: Civil War in Iraq?
in response to reader comment: Iraq's plight not a coalition responsibility nor danger to the West

Elan, take a breath. The Americans believed that Saddam was a threat and a danger.
As a result, we have spent much money and precious lives to liberate the country, give the people a chance at self rule, and rid the world of a psychotic ruler.

One may not agree with, support,or endorse the course of action, but it is what it is.

We have no ultimate responsibility for the actions of the people of Iraq. If they believe war is in their best interest, then so be it. Religion is a great motivator, and Muslims killing Muslims is no great surprise. They have been doing it for 1400 years and no doubt will continue for the indefinite future. Muslims killing non Muslims is a different matter. As a cold calculation, the more they kill each other, the fewer there will be for us to kill and the fewer will be killing non muslims. War is hell and, unfortunately, is also Islam.
Semper Fi.
