Mr. Pagan you ask a question on democracy..., in the Qur'an, why not wait for the muslims to answer you since you are a pagan.
Mind you mr. pagan, for every verse in the qur'an it has its explanation from the earlier & the present scholars.

As for Surah 4:34 you sited as an example on how to correct a married woman in Islam for her disloyalty and ill-conduct, have you check muslims commentary on it? Do you even know what Islam refers to as disloyalty and ill-conduct? NOTE: Prophet Muhammad said in his farewell sermon, O you muslims know that Allah has given you your wives as a trust (Amanat) therefore treat them well. If any one of you sees a detestful character with his wife, he should think of her other characters that pleased him & pardon her etc.
And again pls note the following:

1) Do you know what Islam is refering to as theft that leads to the cutting of arms?
2) Do you know what Islam is refering to as adultery or fornication that attracts the punishment of flogging?
3) Do you know what Islam is refering to as waging war against Allah and His Apostle? Qur'an even said those that interacting with interest (usury) are waging war Allah and His Apostle. Will you then conclude that anybody that collects interest should be cricified? Pls ask if you don't know, don't create hatred among the people.
4) Also know that, those Islam said are spreading mischief in the land that are to be executed...are non but those considered to be dangerous to the Islamic state. You will easily agree with me ( if you are sincere) by how the West consider the members of Al-Qaida today.
