Paul, I saw Carter's latest display and actually felt embarrassed for him and for those who cheered him on. Such a lack of decorum and taste. You could expect that from some of the other speakers, but not from a former president when the current president was sitting right there. He seems to have become a very angry and bitter old man.

Don't beat yourself up too much for voting for him, though. I don't think he was this bad when he was president. My dad voted for him in 1976, although I remember him telling me that he (a staunch lifelong Democrat) just couldn't bring himself to vote for him in 1980. He voted for Reagan, possibly the only Republican president he had ever voted for. Carter must have been pretty bad. I think he'll probably go down as one of the worst presidents in our nation's history. I think he is partly to blame that we are now facing a pack of nihilistic, fanatical mullahs in Iran ready to acquire nuclear weapons.
