There is no doubt that Dr.Pipes is right. There is a double standard as to Arab and Islamist press and Western free press. Many Arab and Islamist periodicals, all the time and at the encouragement of their government, publish such outrageous anti semitic,US and western cartoons, that even the New York Times cant find a spot on their 'all the news thats fit to print' pages to reproduce them.

Too bad really. While defaming Islam is not a goal that any person with feeling should aspire to, it does give you insight into who is motivating the most complaining, and how they intentionally choose their cartoonists and demonstrators..The concept of free press satire and its imperfections vs.government inspired hate is a conceptual matchup that is way above the mind set of say an Iran,Syria,or Hamas ruled Palestine.

But Dr.Pipes is also right to say that many Muslims ,even most, are trying to navigate themselves to the world of fair sense. They are to be admired and helped. The largest cartoonist of them all, Iran, is in route to developing a nuclear pen that will forever dash all hope of those who not only like to listen, but like to be heard and live. One hopes that folks like a George Bush will not go down in history as the president that freed Iraq while Iran acquired the means to enslave all future global generations. But enough about cartoonists and their cartoons. What we need is a good old fashion book called the Sorties of August.
