Imposing Islam

Reader comment on item: The Clash to End All Clashes?
in response to reader comment: Stop imposing 'Your Islam' on Moslims.

M'hamad: When you ask people not impose their Islam, in that very minute you are already imposing your version of Islam.

Islam is an institution like liberalism and socialism. When you say stop imposing your Islam on Muslims I think that is wrong. My idea is that let people receive or reject Islam the way they want. Do they want to be Sunnites? so be it. They want to be Shiites so be it? nation of islam? or orther faith, so be it..let people have some freedom in the way they are able to undesrtand things.

I think that is a good sign of discourse -respectful dialogue- in a transreligious and transectarian aspect. I do not agree with the way Sunnites manage their way of understanding Islam. They are a bit regressive as long as they rely on the opinions of scholars that date 1000 years old in modern matters. Most muslims should progress and de-ice the frozen thoughts. i add to them the Hindus and Budhists. Jews and Christians have proven in general that their belief is elastic and works for all the times..some Muslims have done so also ( e.i some Shiite pragmatism) so why not the rest..the problem is not the Quran, it is the tribal mentality and the rootless tradition.
