Reader comment on item: The Clash to End All Clashes?

It is a mistake to ignore the insidious restrictions put on western society by Muslims. There are two ways of restricting our freedom. The first is through fear - by threatening violence to anyone that disagrees with Islamism. This of course applies to Muslims as well as non-Muslims. The second is by crying lack of sensitivity. This works in areas where threatening will be of doubtful success.

The recent cry of moderate Muslims that Islamism is not us - that Islam has been "hijacked" is false. Islam has not been "hijacked". The violence and oppression is clearly expressed in the Koran and the traditions surrounding it. To progress, Muslims must acknowledge the violence and reject it in a reformation of Islam. Anything else is insufficient.
