I agree with what Daniel says - but how am I to know which progressive muslim is really progressive and not a man with a Janus face and a forked tongue?

Furthermore, can the genuinely liberal muslim (If he exists) have the last word in islam's future? Fact remains, we can't help them from outside. They have to wage a do-or-die struggle on their own. Only after they start and win a few basic strong victories can we help them.
