Reader comment on item: The Clash to End All Clashes?

Submitted by AG (Pakistan), Feb 28, 2006 at 05:18

I have been reading most of the posts on this form, and I think it was not pleasant for anyone in this world. As a Muslim, I believe and respect all prophets. I hope no one will mind if I do so. I also respect all other religions as a part of my religion. I have and I will have strong objection on any attempt to disgrace any prophet or religious leader. No one in this world has the right to disturb the world by disgracing any community. I support freedom of expression but I am against the right to insult.

Most important thing for me that we all are citizen of this world and we have to live together whether we agree to the faith of others or not but we have to respect as there is no other way.

And about this cartoon problem, the reason of reaction in Muslim countries is not because of their faith but the rate of literacy and their socio economical conditions. Most of them are unaware of any religion and any modern knowledge. They are called Muslims but in reality they are not. A religion named Islam is known to them as a heritage. Specially I am talking about my part of the world Asia (Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Iran, etc) . 90% of the population cannot even read and write their own name, then how can they know about any religion in books like Quran and Bible etc.

What they know is what a mullah in a mosque tells them. And normally a person who is rejected by the society (a person of no use) becomes a mullah and becomes responsible to lead the people religiously. Now the most frustrated person (A mullah) of that society spreads frustration and hate among others. In this atmosphere when a religious leader (Not a scholar) or a mullah asks the people for violence and says that they will go into paradise for that, the people find a way to get out of their socio economical problems ( unfortunately there is no other choice for them).

Also world's politics is responsible for that because these peoples are frequently used by super powers. For example these people from Afghanistan and Pakistan are used by British government about 200 years ago to have a safe belt between Russia and British India. And same is done by USA in late 19th century. At that time the term ‘Jihad' and its today's philosophy was spread among the illiterate and wild population of Afghanistan and northern Pakistan. And they are supported to do so called jihad against Russia. And after could war those warrior are left free to do anything so they are doing what was obvious. This culture continues here.

In this atmosphere if some one makes those cartoons the wild people get an excuse for violence because they never had a chance to develop themselves. Same is true for other non-developed regions of world.
