Clerics and imams

Reader comment on item: The Clash to End All Clashes?
in response to reader comment: Stop imposing 'Your Islam' on Moslims.

Your're saying that I should listen to the clerics and imams. Who said this ? Where do you find this in Islam ? I thought that consensus is central to Islam and my opinion matters. As far I am concerned, "If you are (pious and) Allah-fearing (taqwa), He will bestow on you the gift of discriminating between right and wrong." [Infaal: 29]. and what's God fearing, well here it is : "O believers, be you securers of justice, witness for God. Let not detestation for a people move you not to be equitable; be equitable - that is nearer to God-fearing." (5:8). Finally, "There should be no coercion in the matter of faith." (2:256). Those who know Islam can't ignore that Islam guarantees the freedom of conscience and conviction.

But actually, my point is not to defend Islam or any other religion. My message to you is simple: please don't demonize others. You have the right to have own opinion. But, don't forget that even reality is to some extent a construction of the mind and your thoughts don't necessarely reflect the truth.
