Reader comment on item: "Moslem States Represent a Potential Threat to World Peace"

Submitted by [Professor] Geoffrey Lewis (United States), Feb 13, 2006 at 11:13

I admire your latest e-mail, as usual, especially with MUSLIM RAGE, but what with the fuss over the cartoon I think you may be interested in the following old Turkish joke which is typical of the Turks' secularism. By the way, did you hear last week that the Iran goverment has forbidden "Danish Pastries", to be replaced by "Flowers of Muhammad"?

Here's the Turkish joke. A man goes out fishing and says, "O Allah! The first fish I catch I shall give to the poor." He casts his line and immediately catches a huge fish. "Well," he says, "this is much too good for the poor." At that moment the fish spits out the hook and jumps back into the sea. The man shouts, "Allah! Can't you take a joke?"
