in response to reader comment: Muslims who take their religion seriously are dedicated to destroying America

I think there is a reason why Islam's numbers are growing, gentlemen. Yes, the moderate Muslims have been rather quiet, but that's because the fanatics are loud and in your face, and of people like you who have the opinion that all Muslims are fanatics with intentions of spreading that religion by force. besides, the chances of it spreading all over the world are pretty slim, because Christianity has rules Europe and North America for centuries and that is unlikely to change. Going to war over religion is not a good thing - ask the people of Northern Ireland.

With regards to Israel, the Jews and Muslims lived together just fine before WWII. it got ugly in the 1940s because radical Israelis decided that Muslims had no right to live on land they had lived on for 1300 years. That's why we have the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Both sides have resorted to horrid brutality, and one is really no better than the other. I think Ariel Sharon - who planned the invasion of Lebanon in 1982 and became a hero for his exploits in 1973 - saw this, and found that Likud would not get around their prejudices. Hence Kadima.

What we should be doing is helping the moderates get their message out into these zones, let them yell over the dangerous ones.
