Why the disregard?

Reader comment on item: [U.S. Intelligence: ]"Moslem States Represent a Potential Threat to World Peace"

Submitted by Yehuda Ben-Asher (Israel), Feb 13, 2006 at 09:50

Until now, it was questionable whether the persistent ill-perceived policies of the US toward the Arab world was due to naivete or intentional disregard. Along with other telling analyses regarding the nature, intentions and threat of the Arab and Moslem world, this report demonstrates that American policies were directed more by disregard than naivete.

The overwhelming addiction and dependency of western economies on petroleum products lead the leaders to turn a blind eye to the dangers and threat of the petroleum producers. When investigative reporters reveal the 2-3 billion dollars in Saudi investments in papa Bush's investment firm, his annual paid lectures and Saudi financed Bush library, it is much clearer why the early assaults by Saudi sponsored terrorists were ignored.

Thank G-d, the ongoing Iraqi losses, the failed Iraqi democracy experiment, the impending Iranian nuclear weapon, the revelation of Syrian transfer of chemical weapons and the new Palestinian Hamastan has finally started to wake up the American political leaders that petroleum is an addiction that is more dangerous than it's worth. What America needs now is a leader, like JFK's Man on the Moon project, that will direct all of America's resources to develop an alternative to petroleum. Not only will the west be saved, but the world will be a cleaner and safer place to live.
