The United States is destroying education and moderation in the Middle East

Iraq had the largest educated population and the best universities in the Middle East. The printing of books in Arabic has been dealt a death blow by the invasion of that country. And now, with the destruction of southern Lebanon and the bombing of civilians there, another potential bridge between the west and Middle East has been burned. If education and democracy are to be promoted in the Middle East, then the United States must change its beligerant "war on terrorism" stance that is becoming a sarcastic joke in the Middle East.
