Don't lump all Christians together as anti-semitic

Reader comment on item: Anti-Semitism Evolves

Please don't lump all Christians together in this 'anti-semitic' mode. Note that historically, anti-semitism was a Catholic institution/practice and later when the protestant denominations broke from Catholocism, that anti-semitism was carried forward to an extent. Those Christians, however, who refused to bow their knees to another (other than Christ Jesus) and refused to become Catholics (when Emperor Constantine gave the pagan temples over to the Christian groups and melded the state with religion--the Catholic religion resulted...), were burned at the stake, and tortured to death in many various and gruesome ways etc. as well as the Jews... Many of these Christian groups were hunted down by the Popes (i.e.Pope Innocent) and genocide committed. The Waldenses and Alberginses were a couple; Anabaptists another... Fortunately, many survived and fled elsewhere; America is an example. Many of these Christians have by and large been the defenders of the Jews, knowing that 'salvation is of the Jews'; that the lineage of Christ Jesus was from the Jews. They are still the defenders today - they are the ones who defend the state of Israel...
