Reader comment on item: Anti-Semitism Evolves

Submitted by Joe Hyland (United States), Feb 15, 2005 at 13:07

The shift of anti-semitism from right to left is at least somewhat explained by the conflation of anti-semitism and anti-Americanism. Or it may be vice versa. The left today hates America and all it stands for with a passion. Therefore, an alliance between anti-semites in general (think European liberal intellectuals) and Islamofascists in particular and the left is a natural.
The right, on the other hand, is the side defending America. Israel is a friend to America. Ergo, defence of Israel and Jews by the right is also a natural.
