Consfusion between belief and application

Too many make the mistake of confusing how people apply religion with what the core beliefs of what religion should be. Jesus preached forgiveness, turn the other cheek, etc. I honestly do not believe that God as anything to do with the subsequent "religious wars" since the time of Jesus. There is a difference between being religious and being faithful. Jesus' followers were faithful; the elders ande scribes who had Him crucified were religious. Many religious read the Bible as a lawyer reads a contract or a law; looking for a loophole. They are not necessarily seeking salvation or enlightenment.
