Dear Dr Pipes: Muslims intellectuals are just like non-muslim intellectuals. Non-muslim liberal \people say that

non-muslims should be tolerant and accepting to muslims.

Muslim intellectuals also say that

non-muslims should be tolerant and accepting to muslims.

This shows that muslim intellectuals are no less enlightenened than their non-muslim counterparts.
