Any Guidance?

Reader comment on item: Islamism 2.0

Submitted by Soda Jerk (United States), Nov 24, 2009 at 20:13

I agree that Islamism working through the system is a much greater threat to Western civilization than violent Islamism.

We have McDonalds and McMansions and even McColleges. Why not McIslam?

The "normalization" of Islam as simply another "lifestyle choice" poses a devilish challenge to democratic institutions as we know them in the West.

Like "unwed motherhood" which was once not so long ago a subject nobody talked about and whose "practitioners" were shunned, it has now become so commonplace that whenever I meet a young mother, I automatically assume she's unmarried. If it turns out she's actually really married (and happily so), I must admit to a modicum of shock. So much so, that I am often left speecheless in her presence.

Similarly with Islam. At one time, a Westerner professing a belief in Islam was cause for wonder, if not alarm. No more, at least for me.

More likely, I'll simply come out with a big loud yawn.

The several Western born and bred Moslems I personally know that have "converted" to Islam are deaf to my entreaties to listen to reason.

Like ex-smokers, they are truly fanatical.

Dr Pipes and others have raised the clarion call on this subject on several occasions. However, no one I have encountered in print or in vivo has yet come forth with some solution to this
alarming development.

If this is truly the problem that many purport it to be, can we have some guidance as to how to combat it.

Thank you.
