That is a fair point, but I do not believe that Dr. Pipes means the ENTIRE left.

I'm an independent myself, and while some of the left may "realize" the danger, they don't seem to be doing much about it.

1. They need to understand WHY radical Islam is dangerous, and it goes beyond al quedia and terrorism. In my view sharia law is an even greater threat.

2. Islamists are more likely to work with the left, because the left panders to them. You have politicians all over Europe who downplay sharia law. Why? Because the left NEEDS the Muslims to stay in power, not because the Muslims vote, but because they need the EU vote, and that is what?

-Having free health care

-Having free education

-Having a big government

You need tax revenue for these things, and to have tax revenue, you need people. Europeans aren't having enough children. Why? Well, let's see: they promote

gay marriage

abortion

contraception

feminism

None of which yield children.

Muslims are against all of these, save contraception, yet they still have many more children, to the point where they will become the majority in Europe this century.

It's between a rock and a hard place for Europe. Either they go along with Muslim immigration and risk cultural suicide, or they lose their tax revenue and their status as a world power and end up like a heavily-populated Canada, which means America gets even more hegemony in the world, and by gosh, they aren't going to allow the Republicans to do that, no sir! Even if it means the annihilation of their cultures!

3. Many extremists like the left of the West and India. This is because the left is seen as weak. As Bill O'Reilly writes in Culture Warrior, (I'll paraphrase) if you were an al quedia terrorist, who would you work with? Conservative Christian groups that promote strong national defense and homeland security, or a group like the ACLU that opposes every anti-terror measure in existence? Which would make your job easier?I mean, goodness if you worked with Christians, heck, they might even convert some of your followers in the meantime.

Think about it like this: Why do you think so many of our enemies support Obama? Because they want peace? Or because they see him as weak.
