Dear Rebecca,

You have to consider that view from Western Europe and from France in particular: each US president past and to come will not be considered as a real politician. Clinton was surnamed, sorry about this term, the "saxopenis", Bush senior as a Mandarin (state clerc), Bush junior an idiot, Reagan a cowboy/actor, etc... The next won't be loved, even if it will be Obama. Even if , I think, he is called or viewed as the "Messiah" from here. Mix of black and white people = next generation and view as our interracial communties and furure of human kind. This stament is false and conduct to sadness.

Europe or the hate forces within (right or left wings) deny or are jealous of the US power. But it is our ancestors who suicided Europe (WWI and WWII). I think that Europe has to be considered as an Historical park like Disney Land park. Sorry about this conclusion but that is the situation. They hate also the fact that you're optimistic and proud of your belief in God. They hate you because you can change quickly and apologise for your errors (this last point is identify to hypocrisy).

We don't like capitalism but capitalism is the only way to issue the concept of "Homo novus". That concept was one of the key of the English Revolution (started with Henry Tudor- the VIII and closed with Cromwell). That has shown us the path to follow but that was completed with a religious chism - free of the central power of Roma and its Pope). Germany and some countries with a notorious protestant community has also followed that path. But the other countries, France included......prefered to follow the concept that gave birth to Communism!!!

I always tell my english friends (because I live a quiet and lovely countryside the english men/women love) that the child of the English revolution are the USA. And the child of the French Revolution ....the Soviet Empire. So with that conclusion, you will find the roots of anti-americanism and anti-capitalism, in fact anti-freedom concept.

At the beginning, Lafayette and Washington shared the same "ideal", but the continental Europe and the USA are not part of the same civilisation anymore. You are young and strong and we are old and weak....

I don't know if the Islamic threats/terrosrism will change our relationship or confirm that we are not able to face and win every new civilisation threat/challenge by our own. I think we can't. We have in Europe a capacity of selfdestruction that is so huge even if I think that every country has it inside and this don't give us the capacity of self defense ourselves. We are not able to evoluate.

I don't want to make you sad but the french don't care if one of your relative passed on the normandy beaches on the D-Day. The French are not able to thank you, officially, due to the points I wrote above. We have so many leftists who marked our culture and this permits a lot of my fellow citizens to say: "they let the nazi invade the whole Europe, they already knew the project, they didn't move then so they paid the price on the french beaches until Germany". In fact, to french eyes, you won't find any thanks only "every thing was a conspiracy, they knew maybe they organized this to take over the world".

Regards
