Reader comment on item: Resisting Islamic Law

Submitted by David W. Lincoln (Canada), Feb 28, 2008 at 23:18

I refer back to the faces of history that Max Dimont used in "Jews, God & History". One face of history, namely the geography and climate of any given place, in the Islamic milieu, has pre-empted all the other faces of history and created a hierarchy when conciliarity is the best option available. Case in point; one of the other faces of history comes from Karl Marx.

It is at the top of the hierarchy, for everything else is mere superstructure - according to the doctrinaire Communist. Whether it is communism or Islam, we have a totalitarian system that points to an outside threat to perpetuate. (Just as Natan Sharansky noted in "The Case for Democracy"). So, does making this a battle of ideologies help? It wouldn't hurt, as long as other options are utilized.
