Reader comment on item: Intimidating the West, from Rushdie to Benedict
in response to reader comment: Provocation

Shri.Ghulam Mohamed , Mumbai is wilfully overlooking the thrust of Dr.Pipe's argument. The violent demonstrations and the killing of a nun in Nigeria is wholly unwarranted; a million e mails to the editor or the HH Pope would have sounded more civilised. I am aware civility in Islam is in short supply, with all the honour killings, triple talaaqs, purification procedure for divorced couple to re- marry, committing rapes of Western women and justifying it as uncovered meat and that they invited the rape etc.

The muslims are very poor in India. But it is Islam that is to be blamed. They refused family planning and common civil code and ended up with four wives and twenty children and they can not afford private schools and sent them to Madarassa schools. They became unemployable and unemployed. I cite the Nadar community in Tamilnadu, who were the most backward in 1920s and they are the richest in the state today-reasons are family planning, modern education and hard work. You are in a state of perpetual denial, for all your ills someone is responsible.

Regarding riots. Here your agent provocation is more appropriate. The muslims committ Godhra and Gujarat follows. Your people stab a policeman and Coimbatore follows. Your relatives in Pakistan demolish temples, Babri structure is gone. The Hindu patience is gone for long and violence will be met with violence. Belief in Gandhi has landed up in this multicultural mess and the west will soon discover that pluralism with a muslim component is self defeating and self destructive.
