India and M Ray's Comments

Reader comment on item: Intimidating the West, from Rushdie to Benedict

Submitted by M Desai (United States), Sep 29, 2006 at 09:58

M Ray's comments about India, and Pipes' quips, paint a picture of South Asia perfectly in line with the BJP/VHP/RSS trifecta of Hindu fundamentalism. It's funny that so much attention is paid, in Pipes' post, on "all the violence in India" and not a word is mentioned about the riots in Gujarat 2002 perpetrated by state-sponsored Hindu fundamentalists.

By the way, it's this same government (and its centrist version in the Congress) which has been forming an axis with Israel and the US. Despite all the shortcomings of the newly-found Indian nation, at least in principle, we were never the lackeys of US Empire. I'd hoped.
