Persecution?? Is it there?

Reader comment on item: Intimidating the West, from Rushdie to Benedict
in response to reader comment: talking about religious freedom...

Dear Dr Pipes, Time passes but things do not change. Way back in 2012, I wrote on your forum that Islamic countries offer no freedom to non-Muslims. Your reader AAA replied that there is a lot of freedom to Hindus and other minorities living in Saudi Arabia and Malaysia. I saw AAA's response after almost 8 years. But he was factually wrong then and he is factually wrong now. It is easy to ignore subtle details. Has a Hindu ever tried o get a citizenship into any of the gulf countries. No chance. Even if you are born there and die there, you are not eligible to get a citizenship. And, should you get a bit ambitious and start preaching Hinduism to locals, you are doing a majorly wrong thing. Even in Malaysia it is illegal to preach any other religion to Muslims. If AAA does not understand what I am saying, he should just consider the inverse: what if we ban preaching of Islam in the USA. Or even better, no visa or citizenship for Muslims. Welcome to the free world, dear AAA. That is what Islam offers.
