You have to realize that each Surah was revealed to Muhammad SAWS at a specific time and place. So it holds meaning during that time and in general. It's important not to get the two confused.

Oh yes. Non-Believers will receive punishment. God created us with the ability to reason, the ability to think, and the ability to decide. It is our duty to seek the truth. Our whole point of being on this earth is to submit to God in order to reach paradise. This world is only a test. So if you waste your time in this world without seeking the truth and submitting to God. You deserve the hell fire.

If you honestly pray to GOD and ask for help seeking the truth........you shall receive guidance. Fatihah (First Sura in the Quran) clearly asks GOD to Lead us not astray........."(Guide us to the straight way) and Allah says, "This is for My servant, and My servant shall acquire what he asks for." If you think that you do not have to seek the truth in this world and not submit to GOD and still reach paradise--then you are mistaken. Submit to GOD. Ask for forgiveness, give up your evil ways and GOD may forgive us all. Inshallah

Anyone can take any book and pick out parts and twist them to make then sound harsh and cold. I could do the same with the Bible. A true believer will take GOD's words for what they mean. Look at all the good things the Quran tells us to do. Help the poor, feed the orphans, be kind to your wives, be kind to your neighbors, be kind to your parents, do not cause mischief on the earth, do not seek revenge, do not hold grudges, greet everyone with at least a smile, do not argue, do not drink, do not gamble, do not look at porn,…………………….I could go on for a long time. Open your mind and heart and stop looking for negative things. It's our duty to worship GOD and GOD alone. If you leave this world and you do not have that figured out. You wasted your life and you deserve exactly what GOD promises. Each person shall receive what they deserve. The believers = paradise the non believers = the fire.
