Islamic Martin Luther?

Reader comment on item: The Islamic States of America?
in response to reader comment: A Muslim's Perspective Addressed To Mr. Pipes

Submitted by Jason (United States), Mar 16, 2006 at 13:31

For over 30 years, I have been studying the concept of an Islamic Reformation. One the key prerequisites for such a Reformation would be the rise of Islamic Martin Luthers or John Calvins. These would be men and women who would look back to the scripture, and its teachings, as their source of faith. They would lead the way for other to turn away from a religion of superstition and blind faith in the teachings of human beings. Christianity was saved by people like this, and I am convinced Islam will be as well.

In Shawkat Kabbara, we might just be witnessing such a person.
