Reformation of Muslem religion

Reader comment on item: The Islamic States of America?

Submitted by Jerry Wintermute (United States), Aug 23, 2005 at 16:28

After studying Mohammed's biography and his adoption of a moral code, I see no evidence of the violence that the present day terrorists can say that the Prophet proposed in the proslytization of his faith. The word Muslam meams "submission to Allah" or the God of Abraham. In his zeal to convert the infidels, as he identified non believers, he called for a Jihad or Holy War. It is a myth that Muslim armies forced conversion at sword point.
So it would seem to me that present day Muslims need a Martin Luther, a reformer. Those Muslims who do not accept the holy war as a literal need to reform their religion to embrace Mohammed's vitues of human charity, human justice and the peace of Allah.
As a Chistian I can respect Mohammed's orginal thesis.
