Unconstitutional

Reader comment on item: The Islamic States of America?

Submitted by Victor Katsap (United States), Sep 23, 2004 at 13:57

Some 2 yrs ago I read an interview with the Marin County, CA Islamic Center "leader", pitched as a "moderate" Muslim (Johnny Walker Lindh got converted there). This mild-mannered guy simply stated, "Each faithful Muslim must work toward establisment of Islamic state in country he lives in". No less!

I think if lour Constitution says, "Congress shall never establish state church", then the opposite is true as well: neither church shall establish itself as the state church. Why does no religion but Islam keep talking about the religious state in the US and elsewhere?
I think it's utterly un-Constitutional, but no one seems to notice. The gov't is preoccupied with "religion of peace" mantra. Our tolerance and complacency will cost dearly our kids and grandkids.
