Democracy's Fault : Waking Up Too Slowly

Reader comment on item: The Islamic States of America?

Submitted by Bob Breslauer (United States), Nov 6, 2004 at 14:46

There is no question that Miitant Islam is the world's greatest threat to peace and security. The vast majority of Muslims, over a BILLION, are not overtly militant. They are not the "Terrorists" the free world is fighting now. But by a look at the gross picture, almost all the "Terrorists"" are Muslim. As Daniel Pipes has said, "If Militant Islam is the problem, Moderate Islam is the solution." The level of peace that many of us hope and pray for, regardless of religion, is to stop the killing and suicide bombers. Whereas that may not be a flowering peace, it is a level of existance that we all need to work for.

To stop the killing, the Moderate Muslims need to conduct so introspective searching - most of the leading societies like CAIR, AADC, MAS, and others are still in DENIAL. Since the 9/11 Report identifies (first time by a major US Government sanctioned body) that the "terrorists" are mostly Militant Islamists, it is no longer politically incorrect to cast such aspersions on members of a religion. Indeed, res ipsa loquitur! When will Muslims realize that they cannot offer statments in English and Arabic that contradict each other - there are too many translating watchdog groups translating Arabic sermons into English and making them instantly available throughout the world. When the denial switches to a attitude that "terrorism" is harmful to their cause and they accept responsibility for the evil, only then can they live at peace with themselves and with the rest of the world.

So please Moderate Muslims, join the free world in its fight against terrorism. When the last battles against "terrorism" have been won, then we can all pray, in our own ways, to the same G-d for continuing peace for ourselves and our children.
