Reader comment on item: The Islamic States of America?

Submitted by John Whalen (United States), Jul 12, 2005 at 11:57

Patrick Lau says:

"Our Founding Fathers came to this country and fought for their freedom and religious beliefs. There is only one Law and one Constitution, and that must never change by the will of the American people."

I believe that the constitution has already changed a number of times "by the will of the American people." The first few of these changes are called the "Bill of Rights." The kind of thinking represented in the phrase "there is only one Law and one Constitution, and that must never change" sounds more like the thinking of the people Lau is criticizing than the thinking of the Founding Fathers.
