Reader comment on item: Why I Stand with Geert Wilders
in response to reader comment: Respect Islam?

Pym writes:

"What exactly is it that you respect about Islam Mr. Pipes? Is it the calling for the killing of Jews? The call for "Boiling Heads"? The taxes imposed on Dhimmies? or the remaining option to convert or die? Maybe its the way that Islam treats women and homosexuals. Is that what you respect about Islam? Would could you possibly respect about a religion that aspires the ways of a pedophile rapist murderer and who left a legacy of violence as its singly contribution to humanity?"

A very good point - one that needs much further general discussion. This has been my viewpoint for quite some time - and when I bring it up - people really have no good answers.

But Pym, your list is a little incomplete - you don't cover the belief in Buraq's, Mo's splitting of the moon, the need to shave pubic hair or walk into a toilet with your left foot in case Djinns get you, the rather disturbing practice of 'mufa'khathat' , slavery and so many other things.

I respect belief in Islam the same way I respect an alcoholic's right to have his hallucinations. Am I being too harsh?
