Ghulam Muhammed, nice you provide some opposite point of view here. "civilization (...) molded by time and space in which it grows up and gets mass approval or adoption." There are europeans who understand that achieving mass approval by mass immigration and adoption by intimidation is not the way to go, but you are right, things can go that way. "both yourself(Dr Pipes) and Geert Wilders are rowing against the tide" Well, you may find many examples in history that ideas and "very clear thinking" somehow flies above the water and can achieve a turnaround. In a more islamic context is it not true to say that Mohammed in his days was rowing against the tide ? when you say "civilization that essentially springs up to meet the challenges of time" you have a point. What exactly is it that makes islam attractive today ? Some say it is western weakness but I do not think this enough for an explanation.

Maybe some western convert can explain this. "a new order can be imagine and promoted when use of force will become obsolete" this is an opening line for any totalitarian ideology to follow. In ordinary life you know that something advertised as "cheap" is not cheap, something advertised as "new" is what you already have, when people say "service", "immediatly" you know what to expect. "culture is nothing static, it is ever-changing" the question is will it change for the better. As for islamic culture the way the islamists want it I believe it would be a serious step back. Certainly for women it would.
