Reader comment on item: Why I Stand with Geert Wilders

Submitted by Charles (Netherlands), Jan 21, 2010 at 03:43

As a dutchman I have followed mr Wilders political career in the last 10 years. He is indeed a classic liberal, or, in the US better understood as a social-Libertarian, and did not have any clear views or made any sharp statements on religious matters up to 2002, the year Pim Fortuyn was murderd at point blanc range with six shots by a extreem-leftist activist who is now serving a 18 years(!) prison sentence. He wil be released however, in 2014, having served 2 thirds of his sentence...That's Holland for you.

After the religious murder (multiple stabbings in the chest en a cut throat, right in main street Amsterdam) of moviemaker Theo van Gogh, Wilders was being targeted next by muslim extremists. Since that moment he has gotten 24/7 protection. And also sinds that moment Wilders has taken a closer look at the islam in all its colours. What he found shocked him so profoundly, that he decided tot confront it head on. Thats wat has been going on over here sinds then. His support is massive and groing every day. Our country has never been the same sinds the murders in 2002 and 2004. Sinds then we all live in a rollercoaster over here. In Europe there are around 50 million muslims right now. That happend within 35 years. (In Holland we have 1 million on a pop. of 16 million. Some cities have changed drastically. In America there are around 5 million. Thats the big difference, and why many Americans do not really understand what is goin on over here.
