The Islam - Islamism Distinction

Reader comment on item: Why I Stand with Geert Wilders

Submitted by Stefcho (United Kingdom), Jan 22, 2010 at 07:05

Wilders is right. Islam does not simply unite a (relatively) small minority of religious zealots; it is also a system which formalizes and justifies division from, and depreciation of, other cultures, traditions and religions. That is why an Islamic state is always a threat - no matter how long its Islamist branch has been dormant. Islam always has been, and always will be, the problem. The religion itself is the grating, pressurized ideological rift that - like an earthquake zone - will always eventually give way to physical and other manifest forms of violence.
