in response to reader comment: damage control to secular democratic institutions

Submitted by DAVID R.GROESBECK (United States), Jan 26, 2010 at 12:51

Unfortunately, post war Europe & to a distressing extent, the US,have embraced the ennervating concept of multiculturalism. Under the guise of freedom of religion & expression,Islam has undermined our democratic institutions to a dangerous degree. We see this most particularly in northern & western Europe. Islamics scream for special accomodations & for the demise of democracy in Oslo & Hyde Park,London. They're often reinforced by self loathing indigenous non Islamics-terrified of being labeled "racist" or "intolerant" by offering defence of their own democratic cultural heritage. Islam by it's own sacred texts owes no allegiance to any nation state (their host state included in the case of Europe) -only to the international umma. Present day Christianity isn't the Christianity of Tarquemada. It's been pulled (often kicking & screaming) into the modern era by secularism & is not incompatible with democracy. Islam has changed not one iota in the 1400 years since the death of Mohammed in 632CE. It's by nature aggrandizing, predatory, violent,& contemptuous of democratic freedoms-viewing them as infidel weakness. Until Islam develops the most unlikely desire/ability to reform itself, it should,in my opinion,be considered the enemy of democracy-and hence, totally unworthy of respect.
