Reader comment on item: Why I Stand with Geert Wilders
in response to reader comment: 'freedom' the Great Western Hypocrisy

Submitted by Peter Herz (United States), Feb 2, 2010 at 18:53

Amin, Christians did not fly airplanes into skyscrapers in the Muslim world, and did not waffle, hem, haw, and blame the JOOOOOOZ! when asked where the theologians who condemned such acts were.

As a spiritual heir of the Puritans, I know of books in the rare book room published in the 1600's by Puritan divines who called for freedom of the press. The fact that Amin called for the banning of the Qu'ran is the reason why I am only 99% behind him rather than 100% behind him.

Further, show me the sites where mullahs and jurisprudents call on the young Muslim immigrants in Malmo, Sweden and the banlieux of France to cease and desist from attacking native European women, burning people's cars, and generally shoving crime rates through the roof. The fact is, people like Robert Spencer, who read Arabic, make it impossible for the extremist mullahs to hide their true feelings by sticking to their native languages. We now know that there is a disturbingly large portion of the Muslim immigrant community that sees the criminality perpetrated by members of those communities as "jihad" against us decadent Westerners. This is why people like Wilders (and myself) are very, very disturbed.

We have seen the Christian group Youth With a Mission go on a march through Turkey and other Muslim countries to apologize for the crusades. Will we EVER see a Muslim group apologizing for the rapes of Spain and the Balkans, and such practices as devirsme? The behavior of too many Muslim groups resident in the West makes too many of us suspicious that we will not. And, some of us who are like this now are the selfsame people who believed that the genocide of the Bosniaks and Kosovars had to be stopped, and even protested to mighty China for the way it has treated its Muslim minorities.

Now, when I see more like the people in Detroit who protested terrorism in the middle of a Midwestern Winter or the Iraqi immigrant in Canada who calls on fellow Muslims to stand for the liberties of the general population of their adopted countries, I will back down in my suspicions. I think Mynheer Geert Wilders probably would, too.
