Reader comment on item: Prepare to attack [Iran]
in response to reader comment: Its better left to Israel

Submitted by Melvin A. Fechter (United States), Jul 4, 2008 at 19:09

In the larger part you are right, Yuval, except that the world does not begin and end with Israel and Iran, nor even with Israel and the Middle East, nor will the United States attack Iran on behalf of Israel. In the larger part on which you are right, Israel will have to do the job for itself.

However, Iran's responses will be against the Western World generally, including closing the Straits of Hormuz, and possibly directling Hamas and Hezbollah to attack U. S. embassies and other U.S. interests. Obviously, America will not sit idly by. I have little doubt that battleships, including aircraft carriers, are already being prepared to occupy the Persian Gulf. Will they be drawn into Israel's war with Iran? Probably. You are an Israeli M. D., and this you do not understand: The bond between Israel and the United States is far stronger, far more indissoluble, than you think. It is as indissoluble as the binding of the Christian Bible, tying the Tanakh to the New Testament.

Again, we are in a War of Civilizations. It will not be confined to Israel and Iran. Hold onto your boots. It's going to be a rough ride.
