Islam did not exist before the writing of the sayings of the Islamic Prophet. This is what was and is being said by those most familiar with the writings of the Quran, and not the modernist revisionist theory being promulgated agains the veracity of the Holl Bible.

To be correct, Abram's religion before being visited by the preincarnate Yeshua, was that of his family (Babylonian) in the land of the Chaldeans, in Ur. When told to leave the land of his heritage, he did so in obedience to the Word of the LORD. As such, when renamed by Jehovah Jireh, Abraham did not have a religion (men make religions, not Almighty God), but had faith in the LORD, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.

To reiterate the question, who was the third person of the three that came to Abraham in the way to the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah?

Now, to understand that the Jewish people at the time of Jesus Christ's first visitation did not believe Him is that they did no longer believe in the inspired prophecy that told them to expect the human intercession first. It would be a matter of faith and not judgment that Jesus Christ made His first appearance. They at that time wanted a Messiah to defeat the Romans and re-establish the Davidic kingdom. This was not going to happen because of, as you said, a general unbelief by a majority population. Jesus Christ have His followers, Jewish ones at first, and their faith (just the same faith as Abraham's) and witness is what comes down to the disciples of Jesus Christ today.
