Bush May Be Waiting Until After November?

Reader comment on item: Prepare to attack [Iran]

An attack on Iran could result in such a negative public perception of Republicans that it might even ensure their defeat in the election. So, perhaps he is biding his time, hoping for the best in November, because after that the political damage would be minimized.

I think it would be foolhardy to risk any action that might guarantee a loss in November, especially when the opposition has promised to strive to empower our enemies while at the same time rendering America effectively defenseless against them. (...not that some of Bush's policies have been so great, or that some McCain's will be any better, but at least they are doing some things right.)

In short, a Democrat victory in the upcoming election would not only be a political disaster, but most likely a national one as well. If attacking Iran can safely be put off until after the election, I think that might be the wisest course of action.
